The sun was shining, it was a beautiful Friday, so we decided to spend the day at London Zoo.

Visit 2For1 London and select your attraction (ZSL London Zoo), then download and print your voucher. To get 2For1 entry simply travel by train and keep your tickets to present on arrival with your voucher. We booked two single tickets from Lewisham to Charing Cross station, used our Two Together Railcard as well, then took the tube from Charing Cross to Camden Town (the Zoo is a 15 minute walk from there). Entry came to £27.04 in total, instead of £24.30 each. Bargain!

There's so much to see and do at The London Zoo, and still plenty left for another trip. The zookeepers were laying food trails for the Komodo Dragon and Tigers, enrichment for the animals to try and mirror some of the stimulation they would get in the wild.

There are lots of talks and demonstrations going on throughout the zoo during the summer, sharing information about the animals and their habitats, as well as the zoo's international conservation efforts and breeding programs to combat the extinction of many of these beautiful animals. They're free to attend and you can join and leave them at your leisure.

We stopped by the gorgeous victorian Blackburn Pavilion. Originally designed as a reptile house in 1883, it's now home to over 50 species of exotic birds. They fly back and forth overhead, hop between branches and stroll across the boardwalk like these little guys on the left :) Definitely recommend a visit!

We ended the day at Penguin Beach for the penguins' evening feed and tried to snap a selfie with the stars of the show :)

The ZSL was also promoting their #oneless campaign aiming to reduce the number of single use plastic bottles entering the ocean from London. To read more about it click here. There are lots of water refill stations throughout the zoo, so remember to bring your refillable bottle with you!
