The Royal Crescent, by architect John Wood the Younger, completed in 1774

I've wanted to visit Bath for years! I've heard so much about the city and with it only being an hour and half train ride from London Paddington, it's perfect for a day trip or a long weekend away.

We stayed at Apex City of Bath Hotel. The hotel was lovely and central, easy to walk to all the sites we wanted to see in Bath.

I highly recommend The Mayor of Bath Guides Free Walking Tour. Tour lasts approximately two hours and takes you to many of the main sites in Bath (Bath Abbey, River Avon, Pulteney Bridge, The Circus, The Royal Crescent and more). Our tour guide Collin was brilliant and so informative. Tours run regularly throughout the summer, meeting outside the Pump Room next to Bath Abbey.

We couldn't visit Bath without exploring the beautiful Roman Baths. I couldn't believe how much of it still remains!

Built on the site of one of Bath's three natural hot springs (where the temperature of the water emerges at 46C), The Roman Baths are so much more expansive than you expect from the outside. The exhibition inside on the Baths, and what used to be the Temple worshipping the Goddess Sulis Minerva, is excellent. Visit after 6pm and you'll miss the tour bus crowds.

Bath is such a walkable city bursting stunning examples of Palladian and Georgian Architecture, many constructed from Bath's gorgeous local gold-coloured stone.

We spent almost three full days in Bath, but still have plenty to see and do for a future visit: The Bath Assembly Rooms, The Fashion Museum, No 1 Royal Crescent, and Thermae Bath Spa - as much as we wanted to use the Spa on this trip, the continuing UK heatwave convinced us otherwise :D But I hear the Bath Christmas Market is supposed to be lovely, so we may have to plan another trip for December :)

Have you visited Bath? What are some of your favourite spots? Here's mine:
