Tudor Barn Grounds

Tucked away in South East London is the beautiful Tudor Barn and its gorgeous gardens.

Set on thirteen lovely acres in Eltham, the Tudor Barn has been standing since the 16th century! With original wooden beams criss-crossing the ceiling of the Tudor Gallery, colourful stained glass windows slid into walls, arching fireplaces and a Medieval moat, we knew the moment we walked into the venue, this was where we wanted to get married!

In August 2015, all signs started to point to a winter wedding as we realised that most of our nearest and dearest were available in December if we married close to Christmas. For me, this also included family and close friends in Canada who were already planning to spend the holiday season in the UK. Yay!!

So we immediately booked the venue and in just over four months I found my wedding dress (at Gillian Roberts Bridal Boutique in Eltham - a friendly wedding boutique with a great range of dresses), had it altered and fitted, and we planned our entire wedding! The Events team at the Tudor Barn made the planning process so easy and straightforward. And as we weren't getting married during peak season, venues can often offer more date and budget flexibility than would otherwise be possible during the Spring and Summer seasons.

My favourite part of the planning - MENU TASTING :D Food & wine time, yippee! And the Tudor Barn did not disappoint, their options were perfect for a winter wedding. We were able to offer our guests a choice of starters, mains and desserts (for an additional fee); a vegetarian and vegan dish were included in the initial price. A few of our final choices are below:

We didn't need to add much to the Tudor Gallery beyond table decor as it was already brilliantly dressed for the holiday season: wreaths hanging from the walls and windows, a Christmas tree, twinkling lights and green garlands twined around the wooden beams.

The Tudor Barn Events team were so flexible with what we wanted to do with the space. Our wedding was small and intimate (though the Tudor Gallery can hold up to 150 seated guests), so we were able to have the ceremony next to the roaring fire and the tables for dinner already pre-set at the opposite end of the room near the Gallery bar (a curtain divides the room in two, so the tables can't be seen during the ceremony).

Our wedding planner and Head of Events at the Tudor Barn, Mikala, made certain that the day flowed seamlessly from one part into the next. Her organisation and incredible staff meant that we could relax and enjoy the day with our guests.

The Tudor Barn at Night

We had the most AMAZING time celebrating our wedding at the Tudor Barn! They expertly cater for every event and tailor the day to you as a couple.

With frequent trains running from Central London (London Bridge to Eltham: 20minutes) and Lewisham (10minutes), the venue is incredibly easy to access by public transport. From Lewisham, connect with the DLR to Greenwich and you'll find plenty of hotel options in the area. Click here for some suggestions on where to stay.

I can't believe we'll be coming up to our one year anniversary on December 20th! Thank you, Tudor Barn, for the most special day :)
